There\u2019s no question, however, that the core message of his book invokes a similar line of reasoning. Sinek writes, \u201cIf you hire people just because they can do a job, they\u2019ll work for your money. But if you hire people who believe what you believe, they\u2019ll work for you with blood and sweat and tears.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Simply put: <strong>Individuals and organizations that<\/strong> <strong>focus on, and are driven by, <em>why<\/em> they do what they do rather than <em>what<\/em> they do <\/strong>(their products and services) <strong>or <em>how<\/em> they do it<\/strong> (their value proposition and unique selling point) <strong>can soar to unprecedented heights. <\/strong><br><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><br>To illustrate his theory, Sinek analyzes Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers. Although they had little in common ostensibly, all of these innovators possessed a crystal-clear understanding of their \u201cwhy.\u201d They realized, as one summary for <em>Start With Why<\/em> states, that \u201cpeople don\u2019t truly buy into a product, service, movement or idea until they understand the <em>why<\/em> behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same is true for the majority of the world\u2019s most impactful and successful companies (including Apple, of course). Like the protagonists in Sinek\u2019s book, these organizations are aligned with their true mission and purpose\u2014they know <em>why<\/em> their respective companies exist.&nbsp; And it isn\u2019t to make a profit (that\u2019s a byproduct). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kestersearch.com\/insights-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/questions-2245335_1920-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2418\" width=\"287\" height=\"217\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>From top to bottom, these organizations nurture mission-driven environments in which the enterprise takes on the personality of its team members, and vice versa.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These values&nbsp;guide the what and how behind&nbsp;everything the organization does, which in turn helps to attract and retain customers who share similar beliefs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve never read <em>Start With Why<\/em>\u2014or if you\u2019ve lost sight of its central tenet\u2014you should make time to do so.
